St. Michael’s is a Catholic Primary School and Parish located in Ashburton. The Master Plan for St. Michael’s was prepared as a result of significant review of the needs and planning by the Parish Community, comprising the Parish as a place of worship, the Parish as place for education and the Parish as a community.
The Master Plan aims to cover three main aspects:
Firstly, raise the student cap placed upon the School by the City of Boroondara in 2002 which restricted the growth of the Primary School without due consideration to the changing demographics within the area; Secondly, provide for 21st century learning environments capable of meeting and supporting the pedagogies required by the Catholic Education Office vision for Catholic Primary Education in Melbourne. In addition to providing a framework for which Catholic Capital Grant Applications can be supported with a considered and progressive educational vision for St. Michael’s Parish Primary School.Thirdly, as a Parish Master Plan – take into consideration of the potential of concern of the ever reducing number of Parish Priests, whereby St. Michael’s Parish may become the Parish Centre for a total of three parishes sharing one Parish Priest. Therefore the Master Plan takes into consideration the need for the creation of a Parish Centre facility that accommodates the administrative and spiritual needs of the three Parishes.
