St Patrick's Refurbishment, Catholic College Sale | Y2 Architecture

The St Patrick’s Building refurbishment represents the first stage of a progressive masterplan at Catholic College Sale, to amalgamate the two separate college campuses onto one site, uniting two strong Catholic traditions and Charisms (Marist and Sion). This relocation and merging has stemmed from the two campuses often being treated as two separate schools, dividing staff, students and pedagogical practices. In uniting Catholic College Sale as one campus, the school identified the need to provide modern educational environments, supportive of 21st teaching and learning pedagogy and practices for all year levels.

Built in 1922 as a secondary school and boarding house, represents significant historical value to the school and Sale, however has received a number of extensions and modifications over the years, has deteriorated significantly, and is no longer fit for purpose. The St Patrick’s Building has been transformed to provide a more flexible pedagogical environment that caters for a student-centred, personalised approach to teaching and learning. The building accommodates a Year 10-12 senior school with a variety of modern learning and study environments, a Student Learning Resource Centre, a lecture theatre, and a new College administration centre.
