Y2 Architecture, as the Principal Design Consultant for the Broadmeadows Community Care Unit, focused on design quality and livability to enhance well-being and foster belonging among residents. The Community Care Unit was meticulously planned to promote livability and create a supportive environment. Adaptable bedroom configurations and sustainable materials were key in achieving design quality and ensuring long-term sustainability. The calming environment, achieved through thoughtful use of colors and soft materials, enhances well-being and residents’ sense of belonging.

 

The Broadmeadows Community Care Unit stands as a model for crisis accommodation, prioritising design quality, liveability, and well-being through sustainable and community-centric design practices. Y2 Architecture’s approach, in collaboration with the Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing, ensures a dignified and supportive environment for those in need, while promoting sustainability and fostering belonging within the community.
