Located in Maiden Gully, Marist College Bendigo is a new school precinct for 1100 students that will support its surrounding community. Maiden Gully is one of Greater Bendigo’s fastest growing areas and is expected to accommodate an extra 10,000 citizens by 2030. The Community Hub will provide this growing community with a multipurpose sporting facility that will serve both the new school and the local area as a whole.

The project is being developed as part of the second stage of works at the Marist College site and will be located near main entrance to facilitate community access. Two AFL ovals will provide both senior and junior facilities that will complemented by a range of indoor spaces including a social room, commercial kitchen and amenities. The hub will also have a number of outdoor hard courts along with an indoor netball sized multipurpose court that will provide the community with a robust range of facilities.

The Community Hub will also feed into the College’s system of sustainable water management through the use of Rain Gardens Swales WSUD, rain water harvesting and backwater treatment.

A second future stage is planned to extend the function of the facility to include a second indoor court and Performing Arts facilities and the structure has been designed to accommodate a clear span double court set up. The southern wall of the gym will utilise panels with the potential for dismantlement and reuse when the gym is extended.
